Overview

From the beginning, HORT Resource has set out to supply the landscape trade with high quality plant material backed by superior customer service.

We are a wholesale nursery serving landscape contractors, retail gardens centers and municipalities.  We offer competitive wholesale pricing, high quality plant material, an experienced staff, delivery options, bulk goods and landscaping tools.  Our attention to detail helps control the quality of our plants and service.

Our plant material is sourced from numerous top growers to ensure quality-hardy plants for you and your clients.  We carry large specimen trees, ball and burlap trees and shrubs, potted shrubs, vines, groundcovers, ornamental grasses and perennials.  Special orders are available upon request and encouraged.  New material is delivered to our yard on a very regular basis.

Our weekly newsletter helps keep our customers up-to-date with our latest inventory and news updates from the industry.  Plants are our focus here, but providing superior customer service is also a very important part of what we do.

Jeff Horton – Owner

Jeff graduated from Lehigh University with a B.A. in Psychology. After spending a few years building trails in Maine and Alaska he went back to school and earned a Master’s Degree in Landscape Design from The Conway school of Landscape Design. After graduating, he worked for various nurseries and landscape companies in the greater Portland area gaining experience in the landscape industry including, design, hardscaping, planting, maintenance and nursery management/production.

After his position as a plant buyer for a landscape company, Jeff realized there was a need for a plant supplier in the Greater Portland area who specifically serviced the needs of the landscape trade. In January 2004, Jeff leased four acres in Gray and HORT Resource was up and running.

Jeff lives in North Yarmouth with his wife Susan and three daughters. When not at the nursery Jeff enjoys spending time with his family, music and a variety of outdoor activities including skiing, biking, duck hunting and fly-fishing.
